Memorial Day Observance  May 30, 2005 -  in Eugene Oregon

“In just this century, many millions of men, women and children have perished in war. May there be an end to war.”
-Inscribed on the Veterans Memorial in Skinner Butte Park, Eugene, Oregon

We Mourn all victims of war.
We Mourn the children
left without a parent or parents
We Mourn the parents, families and friends victimized by war.
We Mourn the service men and women
who have fallen in the war.
We Mourn the thousands who suffer
disabling and disfiguring injuries.
We Mourn the veterans who suffer
psychological pain, some of it lifelong.
We Mourn the Afghan and Iraqi war deaths
and injuries, particularly the children.
We invite you to Mourn with us,
here along the one and a half miles of bike path.
We invite you to attend a brief service each hour, on the hour, at the Veteran’s Memorial.
We invite you to visit our Shared Images of Grief, a War Image Gallery behind the Campbell Senior Center a few feet west of the bike path.
Who are we?
We are ordinary citizens who are veterans, business owners, seniors, students, professional people, and parents.
We are individuals, each acting from our own conscience.
