Question: What is the name of that song? Tell me more about it.

Answer: "Kum ba yah" is the name. It is a song of worship and was sung by black slaves in the  1700's and early 1800's. I don't know this for sure but I would guess that the melody originates from Africa. The words certainly do. They are African for "Come by here". All the English lyrics for the song are at the bottom of this page. I had trouble locating more history on this song. If you know any further details, pease contact me.

Here are the lyrics:

Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah

Someone's singing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's singing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's singing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah

Someone's laughing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's laughing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's laughing, Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah

Someone's weeping, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's weeping, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's weeping, Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah

Someone's praying, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's praying, Lord, kum ba Yah
Someone's praying, Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah

Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Kum ba yah, my Lord, kum ba Yah
Oh, Lord, kum ba yah
