Setting up a canopy with signage.
Jack and I wanted to take advantage of the "open to the public" pre-trial
hearing for 1LT Watada. We drove our bus to the
Fort Lewis Visitors Center as instructed and tried to sign in. They
didn't like our bus and told us we couldn't attend the pre-trial.
My feelings were hurt (NOT!).
Carol Melia (from Eugene) makes great banners! The IVAWDeployed
Vets liked her "3000/655000/ENOUGH" sign
so much they "requisitioned" it. This banner was present at the Eugene
Candlelight vigil on January 1, 2007.
Gordon, Jack and Michael.
It is a tradition started by "Spirit of Garberville" and "White Rose"
to have activist Veterans "sign" their bus ceilings with
permanent markers. Here, Michael makes his mark on the "Squadron13"
bus, formerly the "Spirit of Garberville".
Ethan too! The former "Spirit of Garberville" has an eight year history
of peace activism under the direction of Fredy Champagne and
has been all over the country including New Orleans for Katrina relief,
Washington D.C., and SOA in Georgia.
Jack and I are very excited to follow in the footsteps of Freddy and
Pat Tate (White Rose).
Here is the view of Camp Resistance as we headed for home, back to
Eugene.
Camp Resistance looking pretty small at the end of Day 1 after all
the supporters and media had left. :-(
Gordon driving back home. Our first successful trip. We're looking
forward to going back.
